The English idiom cash cow refers to ❛a business or part of a business that always makes a profit❜. Another good definition for the expression would be ❛a consistent moneymaker❜
The Fukushima Cattle once considered to be trash, of no value, have made a comeback. They are now valuable items. So many things that you can do with them. There is Radiation Research studies which means money for the Researchers and maybe a little something for people that are tending the cattle because they can ask for donations to help them “save” the cattle.
There are the people that are dreaming of the possibility “sometime in the future” to return the same contaminated Fukushima cattle back into livestock for consumption. That takes a little time but while they are breeding the cattle and doing their research on how to make the cattle edible again, they can ask for donations from people to either “help them save the cattle” or to “help them research a way to make the cattle edible again.”
There are people that just want to save the cattle and say that they can be valuable as “living” lawn mowers. They can be used to eat all those weeds and the growth that can be something like a “fire” hazard. Not sure if you can ask for donations from that, but maybe they can charge people that own the land with overgrown weeds.
Because you see, there is no reason just to let the cattle live on a sanctuary farm without making sure that they are still earning a reason to live. Not good enough that they survived all those disasters and still managed to live, many on their own after being turned loose.
It seems that to be able to continue to live, the Fukushima cattle must earn the right to live by making sure that they provide their “rescuers” a way to make cash.
