The photo is a group discussion, included in this discussion is Naoto Matsumura, his friend Endo-san, Mr. Yoshizawa, and last, the man in blue, the Japan Veterinary Medical Association representative. The Japan Veterinary Medical Association is actively using animals, like the cattle, for their “effects of cesium on animals” research.
Hiroshi Hoshi and Ruriko of Hachiko Coalition denied the warnings and information that Kachiku-Otasuke-Tai.org kept trying to tell everyone. Kachiku-Otasuke-Tai.org was one of the FIRST organizations created to help the Fukushima cattle. Kachiku-Otasuke-Tai.org was a Japanese organization that was created to Save the Fukushima Livestock and are AGAINST animal testing. AND YET, later taking credit FOR TRYING TO HELP THE CATTLE is none other than Hiroshi Hoshi , who begins to rescue cattle, in the mean-time Kachiku-Otasuke-Tai.org is forgotten. And, everyone cheers Hiroshi Hoshi for helping the cattle, but what was the real reason? (And, lurking in the background : Ruriko. Ruriko who is friends with the veterinarians that are “saving” animals by using them for research according to her comments. And, there was that article about Hoshi stopping by to give money to Naoto Matsumura, who is NOW working with only cattle. For the academic researchers to publish articles on the effects of radiation on Fukushima animals, they need animals; even better when they can get others to keep and feed them while they conduct their “research” of the effects of radiation, cesium, on the Left-behind Fukushima animals. So, conveniently, the plan changes to “we will save the cattle” and un-spoken : so that we can use them for research. And, everyone cheers because they are not longer being Killed outright, now they can be used for research.)

This is a immediate request. We would like to ask farmers who agreed with euthanizing livestock. We have information that from Sept 20th the authorities plan to euthanize a large number of livestock in Minami Souma city, Futaba gun, Taruha gun. If you are please void your agreement as soon as possible. They are not euthanizing them. They are killing them. Even though you do not agree with euthanizing them you will be able to receive payment for damages.

(Please note that this is the MOST important reason for Hoshi, the use of the photos for what he writes. But, why did he think that they were lying? My guess, none other than Ruriko, a member of both Hoshi’s group and Kachiku-Otasuke-Tai.org. However, since Hoshi was doing better with the “public” and Kachiku-Otasuke-Tai.org was against using animals for Research, it is no surprise to see that Ruriko went with Hoshi.)

I just wanted to say a quick thing 
Do not take me wrong but I think we might be a bit tone down for calling K as a lair…. I know many groups said that these fences seemed very suspicious (because I am a member of Kachiku Otasuke Tai so I know they had photos etc), but there is no concrete evidence to call him a lair. Believe or not what we said in public especially on the website we have to take a full responsibility for it. So I would not call him a lair if we do not have a concrete evidence (for example, I am not convinced that the amount of blood in the photo kills a cow since I work with horses and they get cut by themselves by scratching fences or branches and I have seen that they get breeding that much and I get cut one time pretty badly and I got that much blood out before as well. I do not think it would kill a cow)
Dr Imamoto said it is very much fact that local farmers were completely confused and tired of all of this. So I think we have to be very very very careful (I think HOSHI san was very upset at Kachiku Otasuke Tai because they release info without verifying them. This causes much much much more harm).
So I would not call him a liar yet…..

We have been working on two things: 1) Developing/modeling an emergency evacuation plan for livestock during a nuclear disaster and 2) Learning from the animals (livestock currently in the affected zone) in relation to the effects of radiation.

In this project, we are trying to figure out how we can study the effects of the radiation on the already contaminated animals, ensuring at the same time that the surviving animals are left to live out their years in pasture, while being monitored and studies for certain effects of radiation

what we spoke about today during our meeting, was that livestock should have been evacuated early on to prevent irreversible and damaging effects from the radiation but the goverment and tepco were slow to provide a solution, cattle were not evacuated at this point, we also found out that cesium 137 is absorbed into the muscle in 24 hrs, so it was important to take the animals out, decontaminate them with certain compounds to render the milk and meat useful, instead of leaving them there for 9 months and having to euthanize them.

For already contaminated livestock reached to steady states it is very hard to clean thesre radiation out.

So, there is a need for an evacuation model for livestock and a study on the radiation affects on the progeny of these affected animals still in the zone reproducing. So, I would say that this is why they are euthanizing so many of the cattle and pigs. All this could have been prevented. It hurts to think about it.

I do not think we talk about euthanizing them. We are writing on the plan to evacuate them outside of the exclusion zone as soon as possible.ALso for another research with wesley we will try to save them not kill them this is all we can do to save them (especially babies)

I had said earlier that there was no need to kill them to study radiation as researchers could study everything they needed to know from the existing living animals, i.e. blood samples, hair and other body fluids. They could do biopsies if needed but no need to kill. You want to rescue and save in a sanctuary so that the short and long term effects of the radiation are followed. That’s what I understood.

Despite what is said in the above conversation, the cattle used for the articles that have been published are killed so that their tissue can be examined. This was done to the adult cattle, pregnant cattle and babies in the published studies. In this discussion, they mention removing the animals, but this was never the truth since MAFF had already made their decision to NOT allow any “livestock” out of the area.)
