To The Prime Minister of Japan, the Board of Audit, Cabinet Office, Cabinet Legislation Bureau, Cabinet Secretariat, Ministry of the Environment, Ministry of Justice, Consumer Agency
Coalition of FB Sites for the Rescue of Animals in the Fukushima No-Go Zone formally requests an investigation into the distribution practices of the Headquarters for the Relief of Animals in Emergencies. There is no doubt that various organizations that received money cannot show how that money was spent on “RELIEF of DISASTER ANIMALS”.

The money was received and nothing can be shown that the money was used for the purpose that it was received. All organizations that received money from “charitable” distributions are responsible for accounting for how the money was used.  A review of many of these pages shows NOTHING.

Listed below are the some of the Organizations that our Coalition request audits. Valid use of charity money should be shown by these organizations, for the public to see, with invoices showing how and where money was spent for the relief of disaster animals.  Japanese Veterinarian Associations collected funds from the Headquarters for Relief of Animals in Emergencies and then collected again under the “guise” of their newly created “ Disaster Animal Rescue Headquarters.

If the donated money cannot be shown to have been used for the purpose that it was given, we request that charity money be returned, in full, to the Headquarters for the Relief of Animals in Emergencies and donated to NON-GOVERNMENT Associated Animal Relief Organizations to receive that are currently helping the Fukushima Left Behind Pets, cats and dogs. This is clearly an indication of “misappropriation” of funds. There are organizations on the distribution of funds list that have NEVER shown how the money was used to help “disaster” animals.  The same for donations of food and other animal relief items.  There has been nothing shown about what was received and where it went.  How is this being responsible for items that were donated to be used for a specific purpose?

The Government of Japan is responsible for showing exactly what was received, where the charitable money or goods went, and how they were used.   The Headquarters for the Relief of Animals in Emergencies was created by the Government to manage donated animal disaster funds and materials.  It has not done a very good job but it is still the responsibility of this Government to account for this.  It is not good policy for any government to receive materials and money for a disaster and then not show that the items were used for what they were given.  Please do an audit and make the funding public.

PROMETHEUS TRAP : Part 2 has been published. April 24, 2013 : Japan Veterinary Medical Association’s Spin Doctors at Work

PROMETHEUS TRAP : Part 2 has been published. April 24, 2013

A very interesting read. However, it was the “small” details that make this article “less” credible. Spin doctors at work. Personally, I don’t think that the Japan Veterinary Medical Association appreciates that people are finding out “what their TRUE contributions” have been concerning the disaster animals. THE JAPANESE VETERINARY MEDICAL ASSOCIATION’s contribution to assisting the Fukushima Left BEHIND ANIMALS  was to ASSIST THEMSELVES to CHARITABLE DONATION FUNDS that they CONTROLLED.

As stated in the article:

“At night on March 11, the government issued a declaration that said an emergency situation had occurred in a nuclear power plant. However, news of the declaration did not reach Watanabe.”

“When Watanabe temporarily returned to his house on March 19….

“However, he called owners of all of the five dogs and cats and told them about the death of their pets. One of the owners came to his animal hospital immediately after he left there, but failed to see his pet.”

http://ajw.asahi.com/article/0311disaster/life_and_death/AJ201304240007

Do you know why Watanabe did not get the news? Very simple. There was no electricity and most of the communications, both land lines and cell phone towers were destroyed by the tsunami. Most people following the earthquake and tsunami news should remember that. So, it is very interesting that this man was even able to call anyone, much less, notify an owner about the death of a pet.

Even the Government of Japan had trouble getting information about what was happening at the Fukushima Daiichi plant. (One of my favorite stories about the handling of the disasters by the Government of Japan.)

“IMMEDIATELY after the earthquake and tsunami on March 11th that crippled reactors at the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant, all but one of the devices to measure radioactive matter in the area were knocked out. “

“So the authorities in Tokyo sent up a vehicle stuffed with gauges to assess how dangerous the leakage was.”

“Bewilderingly, says Goshi Hosono, a politician recently appointed to oversee Tokyo Electric Power (TEPCO, the utility that runs the plant), the vehicle got stuck in traffic. It then ran out of petrol at a time when the tsunami had led to a nationwide shortage of fuel. Because of this, the government abandoned the mission.”

“Yet it had taken what Mr Hosono says was seven to ten days before the government could get reliable data on the amount of radioactive matter pouring out. During that period it became clear that a partial meltdown had taken place in at least one of the six reactors.”

Reports on communication issues: damage and repair……..it even mentions how calls were unable to get through because of the sheer volume of people trying to use phones at the time (People that actually did have phone service.)

“Study: No radioactive cesium in 99% of Fukushima, Ibaraki residents ” April 11, 2013 is based on MISLEADING information.

May 9, 2013

The Government of Japan’s efforts to minimize the fear of radioactive issues is amazing. They even have the newspapers helping.

“Study: No radioactive cesium in 99% of Fukushima, Ibaraki residents ” April 11, 2013

“Some experts warn that food contaminated by radioactive materials that spewed into the atmosphere after the meltdowns following the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011, can cause extreme internal exposure. If true, radioactive cesium would accumulate in the body, elevating the radiation doses in people aged 20 or older about a year after nuclear disaster started.

But the survey has shown that this has not happened.”

http://ajw.asahi.com/article/0311disaster/fukushima/AJ201304110064

The article was Based on 2 studies that actually said:

Internal radiocesium contamination of adults and children in Fukushima 7 to 20 months after the Fukushima NPP accident as measured by extensive whole-body-counter surveys
https://www.jstage.jst.go.jp/article/pjab/89/4/89_PJA8904B-01/_pdf

“Conscientious and well-supervised food testing/screening and whole-body counting must be carried out continuously in Fukushima in order to maintain the low-level of internal exposure.”

Internal Radiation Exposure After the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant Disaster

“Differences between children and adults may reflect differences in cesium metabolism5 or greater attention to food and water consumption or changes in outdoor activity in children.”

The newspaper article gave the impression that there is no issue of contamination with food. (Eat up, no need to measure anything.)

In the same article, it gives the impression that 99% of the residents are not contaminated. (You were worried for no reason at all.)

“Study: No radioactive cesium in 99% of Fukushima, Ibaraki residents ” April 11, 2013

“Radioactive cesium has not been detected in 99 percent of people in Fukushima Prefecture, host of the stricken Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant, and neighboring Ibaraki Prefecture since March 2012, a study showed.”

http://ajw.asahi.com/article/0311disaster/fukushima/AJ201304110064

The article was Based on 2 studies that actually said:

Internal radiocesium contamination of adults and children in Fukushima 7 to 20 months after the Fukushima NPP accident as measured by extensive whole-body-counter surveys

“These results are not conclusive for the prefecture as a whole, but are consistent with results obtained from other municipalities in the prefecture, and with prefectural data. This does not mean, however, that Fukushima residents are free of internal exposure risks, as evidenced by a small number of senior citizens whose body burden exceeded 100 Bq/kg.

Only 21,785 screenings were done for this study. (P.S. The study does not indicate how many of the screenings were “repeat” people).

Internal Radiation Exposure After the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant Disaster

“Because data were collected from volunteers, the results may not be representative of the entire population in contaminated areas.”

Only 11,026 screenings were done for this study. (P.S. The study does not indicate how many of the screenings were “repeat” people).

http://jama.jamanetwork.com/article.aspx?articleid=1346169#Methods

Are those figures really representative of the number of people that actually live in those areas?

Another example of Ethics and Integrity.
