What will happen on the animals left behind in the area of 20km from Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant? (August 23, 2011 (Tue)) ]
Fukushima Pref. government office has already announced that they will not set up shelters for the rescued animals.
And the Ministry of Environment has also announced that no animal rescue activities will be permitted within the area of 20km from Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant, not permitted even for the Veterinary Association (and any animal rescue organizations either, of course).
Once the Government start leasing the land property of the residents in the area animal rescue activities will be a “crime”.
Currently those who are doing animal rescue are not arrested – just being reprimanded and asked to write a letter of apology. But they will be arrested sooner or later.
Many people in the disaster-stricken area who evacuated are asking for animal rescue, and they now strongly feel uneasy that their pets left behind might be “killed”. Actually animals left behind are being starved to death – their lives are just like a candle in the wind, and it is most urgent matter to rescue them.
We have no way other than appealing to the public opinion about this fact. We are currently actively appealing to various members of the Diet and mass media to appeal to the public with the photographs/movies of the terrible and miserable condition in which animals are forced to stay in the area of 20km from the Nuclear Power Plant.
We have been approaching mass media since the disaster occurred, but we heard that they cannot actively move due to the blackout of news about the animals left behind in the area in question. There is a move among them to break the blackout, but they cannot find the actual thing behind. And now the Government has announced on their plan to lease the land property of the residents in the the area of 20km from the Nuclear Power Plant.
We had thought that the Kan Administration’s purpose is “to separate people from the Nuclear Power Plant”, and we doubt that everything has been planned to complete this purpose. Although it was announced that the rice straws (made in the areas far and far away from the Nuclear Power Plant area) given to the cattle were radioactive-contaminated, it is rather unnatural.
The Nuclear Power Plant made us realize how the disaster is huge once it is ruined. Many people lost their houses, lost jobs and they are left with no future they can see.
At the same time the animals lost their owners suddenly, left behind with no food/ no water — starved to death, cannibalism …. they are forced a terribly miserable death.
This is the actual Japan who professes itself to be a civilized nation.
Soon after the disaster occurred, many helping hands were offered from various countries. Big scale animal rescue helps were offered from America and France, however Kan Adinistration refused them.
We heard that the Administration also refused the helps with the nuclear power plant disaster. We can easily guess the current terrible and miserable situation with these facts. We cannot abandon our idea that Kan Administration used this time earthquake and nuclear power plant disaster in order to fulfill their purposes. According to newspaper articles, Kan says that he will resign from Prime Minister after the natural energy law passed at the congress — this means their own objective surpasses human and animal lives.
